Eltham Palace, Greater London

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The gardens of Eltham Palace are stunningly beautiful, perfect lawns, flowers, a koi pond. This is an idyllic place to bring your baby on a summers day. “

Total Babies in Museums Rating ***

For older children there is an adventure playground and seasonal garden trail. Most of the gardens have pathways which will suit a buggy, although there is one steep hill involved and some areas which are lawns only – it is always tougher to push a buggy on grass.

There are unisex toilets with baby changing facilities by the carpark and visitor centre with further toilets (but alas no changing table) in the historic house. Prams and buggies are not permitted in the historic house, which is a shame, although there is a buggy park – if baby carrying is an option for you.

The staff were very welcoming and although the house is not easy to visit with a baby, the grounds more than make up for it if the weather is good. There is a cafe on site, tickets are £16 for adults and free for babies. There is a carpark on site, but sadly public transport options are limited.
