“Storage facility meets museum in this new building opened by the V&A in June 2025. For parents this is an Aladdin’s cave of mysterious and wonderful objects, but this is not really an ideal visit for babies.“

Total Babies in Museums Rating **

In fairness to the V&A Museum their new Storehouse is equipped with baby changing facilities, the cafe has highchairs and they even have a designated quiet space where you might choose to feed your baby. However, this is part of the Kensington museum’s storage space and that comes with many compromises. Much of the visitor experience here is guided by the need to secure and protect the museum’s collection and consequently the building is utilitarian and practical. We didn’t spot any seating in the main body of the museum, although you will find chairs in the cafe and designated quiet space. All food and drinks (including baby snacks and formula milk) must be left in a locker at the museum entrance and most of the flooring is made from see-through metal grates. While buggies are permitted in the storehouse we were strongly encouraged to leave ours in the buggy park at the entrance. It isn’t easy or comfortable to push a buggy on the grated flooring and the Storehouse didn’t feel like a particularly safe place to take small children.
